Novel

It was liberating to write a novel. In a play, there is dialogue and stage directions. The dialogue can only imply a contradictory thought. In a novel you can actually write the thought that precedes a line of dialogue. In a play you hope the subtext is evident in ways that smart actors and directors can discern. In a novel, you don’t have to hope - you can write it.
You can think in close-ups. You can write what a character is looking at – you can create light – describe sounds and scents. You can describe sex. On stage sexual tension rules – the moment the tension is about to be released, the lights should go down. In a novel you can dote on the moment. In short, you can think in virtual reality.
In Connecticut Wildlife the theme is sex and spirituality. It is specifically about a man and a woman reuniting after being separated for three years. Their lives and the lives of the people around them are pitched into romantic chaos as the two lovers make the perilous, religious and sometimes humorous journey back to each other.
